Champion Homes: Margin Noise Masks the Value of a Modular Housing Leader - Seeking Alpha
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently toured Champion Homes’ factory in Leola, Pennsylvania, highlighting the efficiency and quality of factory-built manufactured homes.
During the visit, senior HUD officials—including Assistant Deputy Secretary Joseph DeFelice and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Frank Cassidy—inspected the facility and toured models like the Embrace Sunlight and Embrace Calm.
Champion Homes showcased how their centralized manufacturing process ensures consistent quality, improved cost control, and faster construction timelines compared to traditional onsite builds, where weather and crew coordination often cause delays.
The tour aligns with HUD’s increasing support for off-site construction as a pivotal solution to America’s affordable housing crisis. HUD Secretary Scott Turner had previously endorsed this approach at a recent housing expo.
With 46 manufacturing plants and a strong federal partnership, Champion Homes is positioning manufactured housing as a viable, scalable path to meet national housing needs.
Silver woman heads new manufactured homeowners’ group - Silvercity Daily Press
New Mexico, which leads the U.S. with 15.5% of its housing stock made up of mobile and manufactured homes, now has a dedicated statewide advocacy group: the Land of Enchantment Manufactured Homeowners Alliance.
With nearly 125,000 manufactured homes in the state, the group aims to represent this often-overlooked community by shaping policy, promoting housing justice, and advocating for stronger community protections.
Florence Dean of Alamogordo and Joanne DeMichele of Silver City are among the board members, with others from Albuquerque and Las Cruces. DeMichele, who is the board president, began lobbying during the most recent legislative session for bills that would allow residents to buy the land under their homes and stabilize rent—both of which failed to pass.
Dean, whose park experienced a six-month gas outage, stressed that manufactured homes are not easily moved and thus need legal protections. The alliance is now organizing to give homeowners more autonomy and amplify their voices statewide.
