MERaLiON Version 2 unveiled with enhanced multilingual processing and emotional intelligence - FutureCIO
A*STAR Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) has released MERaLiON Version 2, Southeast Asia’s second-generation empathetic Multimodal Large Language Model (MLLM). Developed under Singapore’s S$70 million National Multimodal Large Language Model Programme (NMLP), MERaLiON is designed to reflect the region’s cultural and linguistic diversity. It supports multiple languages—English, Mandarin, Malay, Tamil, Singlish, Bahasa Indonesia, Thai, and Vietnamese—and features advanced code-switching capabilities to mirror natural regional speech patterns.
This new version enhances contextual understanding and user experience, with emotionally intelligent functions that detect emotional tones, gender, and paralinguistic cues in speech for more nuanced and empathetic interactions. It is also culturally aware, capable of interpreting various regional communication styles across languages.
The MERaLiON Consortium, led by A*STAR I2R and supported by IMDA, includes 12 industry and research partners. It aims to scale culturally contextualized AI, reduce costs, and co-develop impactful use cases for Southeast Asia, advancing the deployment of AI that resonates with the region’s unique communication norms.
Transforming Real Estate With AI: Key Takeaways from The Lone Wolf Proptech Advisory Board - Inman
AI is rapidly reshaping real estate, a shift explored by the Lone Wolf Proptech Advisory Board—28 industry leaders committed to collaboration, innovation, and responsible adoption. Agents are already using AI tools like Gamma for slide decks, Raya for lead follow-ups, and Clavis for contract compliance, significantly saving time and streamlining processes. Tools like ChatGPT are being used daily for marketing and calculations, though users express a desire for better visual integration.
The board emphasized the importance of addressing industry pain points, including compliance, contact management, and personalized communication—needs guiding the development of Lone Wolf’s Relationships platform. While enthusiasm is high, ethical concerns remain, especially around privacy and responsible client-facing AI use. Agents stress the need to supervise AI-generated content to maintain authenticity and trust.
Leaders recommend small, practical steps for adoption and urge brokerages to define clear AI usage guidelines. Ultimately, Lone Wolf advocates using AI to support—rather than replace—human relationships, aiming for tools that empower agents without adding complexity.
